What would have been if Jonathan Crane had never had competition? Never had to share his masterpiece?
He was still given a daughter, someone to carry on the Crane bloodline, but she was reared to precisely his liking. She was schooled by the finest tutors he could hire, and he saw to certain aspects of her education personally, once she was old enough.
When she was fourteen, she was accepted into Harvard University under her mother's maiden name. With her father, Elise Crane moved near the university. He could practice psychiatry- at least until he was arrested again- and she could attend school. With no aspirations of college life other than her education, Elise declared two fields of concentration- chemistry and psychology and neuroscience. It would likely mean more than four years spent for her three undergraduate degrees or many winter and summer classes, but there was a family reputation of genius to uphold, even if only in the eyes of her father.
